Our Girls Page: Things are the same and different . . .

Hi friends!

This time we thought we would tell you some things that are the same here as back home, and some things that are different. Does that sound interesting? We hope so :)

SAME: we have beds
DIFFERENT: we don't have mattresses, just thick foam

SAME: we brush our teeth
DIFFERENT: we can't use the water from the sink, we have to use bottled water because the sink water can make you really sick

SAME: we eat breakfast
DIFFERENT: our Grandma and Grandpa send it. They are so great! They send lots of cereal!

SAME: we go to school
DIFFERENT: we go to school at home AND have a language class (we love it!)

SAME: we have lunch
DIFFERENT: it's usually local food, stuff like stir fried green beans, egg and tomato soup, stringed potatoes, chicken and peanuts, sweat and sour chicken, rice or noodles.

SAME: we have friends
DIFFERENT: we don't see them very often and we don't know many kids

SAME: there is a playground just outside our apartment
DIFFERENT: it has 3 slides and a climbing pole. Our Mom thinks the slides are gross because all the split pants kids go down the slides with their bare bottoms. We miss monkey bars and swings but we are thankful for the playground and we love to play on it.

SAME: there is grass here
DIFFERENT: we aren't allowed to play on it. It's against the rules. Mom says she doesn't mind the rule seeing as most of the little kids and grown men use the grass for a bathroom.

SAME: we have a bathroom
DIFFERENT: it smells like an outhouse if you don't leave the window open. Our family has decided we rather have a cold bathroom than a smelly one!

SAME: there are lots of kids here
DIFFERENT: we can't speak their language and they don't have any brothers or sisters.
